The Office of Core Curriculum (OCC) and the School of Social Sciences (SOSS), Singapore Management University, invites applications for one Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in the Humanities, broadly conceived, to begin in July 2020. The jointly appointed position is open to all humanistic scholars, such as in the fields of Asian studies, literature, and philosophy, who can contribute to the multidisciplinary delivery of the University’s Core Curriculum.
We are interested in candidates who can teach (1) courses that would fit under a “Cultures of the Modern World” heading, such as “Multiculturalism and its Critics”, “Popular Cultures in Asia”, “Folk Narratives in Indonesian Literature”, and/or (2) multidisciplinary survey courses such as “Global and Local” and “War and Peace”. (3) We are especially interested in candidates that can offer courses that examine the history, culture, economics, and/or politics of Singapore and its relationship with the region and the world.
This position requires a doctorate in the relevant discipline by the date of appointment. We seek candidates with an excellent record of teaching and scholarly research.
Singapore Management University is a research university committed to a multidisciplinary and integrated curriculum. Salary and benefits, and, research support, are highly competitive. The teaching load is eight sections per year for the Lecturer / Senior lecturer position.
