FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR 1, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) (2 openings), to be responsible for pre- and post-award administration.  Will coordinate the proposal preparation process; consult with FOs and PIs on developing research proposal budgets and review all proposal documents prior to submission; interact with sponsor representatives on pre-award operation issues; serve as MIT OSP point of contact on pre-award grant /contract activities; advise PIs on proposal opportunities; manage pre-award tracking, analytical, and reporting systems; design, generate, and analyze ad-hoc reports using Excel, Cognos, and other database/reporting tools; review procurement and accounting transactions for conformity with sponsor, MIT, and CSAIL policies/procedures; manage support staff distribution; and perform other duties/projects as assigned. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least two years' accounting/finance experience; receptivity to and adeptness at learning new business methods/computational skills; record of assuming greater responsibilities over time; discretion and good judgment with confidential information/issues; meticulous attention to detail; strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills; flexibility; and high-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.  Must be able to multitask, prioritize, and simultaneously manage numerous awards with varying degrees of complexity; meet concurrent and strict deadlines; work independently and as part of a team; and operate effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.  Knowledge of budget preparation and administration, financial record-keeping, and reporting; financial management/forecasting skills; ability to interpret financial data; experience with federal contracts and/or financial administration experience in an academic research environment, particularly research proposal processing and pre-award administration; knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; and experience working with federal sponsors (including NSF, DoD, NIH) preferred.  MIT experience helpful.  Job #17682-6
