The University is seeking a Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) to join the University Executive and work with the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Alex Zelinsky to propel his vision for the University and expand its reach and impact internationally. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) will lead a transformation of academic and educational endeavours whilst also continuing to ensure the foundation of quality assurance, strong student outcomes and that the University’s commitment to equity and access is maintained.

The University’s commitment to student experience and positive outcomes for graduates is fundamental to all aspects of learning and teaching across the University’s six campuses. Demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and change management experience, the appointed candidate, will have the ability to conceptualise and execute university wide strategies that enhance student learning and experience. Candidates should have an intimate understanding of current trends in the higher education sector with regards to student-centric learning and teaching, and innovative pedagogies and technologies. Credible candidates will possess a distinguished personal track record in either research or teaching within a tertiary environment.

The University’s College of Engineering, Science and Environment (CESE) brings together expertise in engineering, environment, and the sciences to deliver life ready graduates and transformative solutions to our region and the world.  CESE strives for excellence, innovation and equity in teaching, education, research and partnerships.  We are global leaders uncovering new knowledge, creating revolutionary technology, and delivering innovative teaching.

The School of Engineering is one of the most research-intensive Schools within the University.  The School consists of four discipline groupings:

  • Civil and Environmental Engineering and Surveying
  • Chemical and Renewable Energy Engineering
  • Aerospace Systems, Electrical, Computer Systems
  • Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

The School is home to many leading-edge research centres and has strong links with industry through sponsored undergraduate students and research collaborations. It is highly research active, contributing substantially to the overall research inputs and outputs of the CESE.  This is reflected in the 2018 Excellence in Research in Australia outcomes where Electrical, Civil, Mechanical and Resource Engineering codes all received an ERA5.
