POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL), to assume a unique position working with institutional sustainability initiatives, splitting time between MIT CTL in Cambridge, MA and the Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation in Shah Alam near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The primary focus will be on examining the oil palm supply chain and working with previously collected qualitative and quantitative data. Will be primarily responsible for conducting analysis of existing data sets, assisting with and taking leadership in writing manuscripts, meeting with project sponsors and stakeholders, and assisting the senior research staff in all matters related to the research. Will also support center activities as appropriate, including presenting results and findings to various audiences.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a Ph.D., ideally in supply chain, sustainability, industrial ecology, or a related discipline; in-depth knowledge of at least one of the following research areas--food and agri-supply chains, supply chain sustainability, supply chain finance and commodity supply chains; demonstrated leadership in supply chain sustainability; familiarity with working with qualitative and quantitative data; proficiency with English communication; and excellent technical writing skills. Good presentation skills are also desirable. Preference will be given to those with both methodological and practical work experience. Experience with field work and engaging with industry and producers is also preferred. Job #17643
Must be willing to travel and working internationally and to split time between Cambridge and Malaysia for the duration of the postdoc.
This is a one year appointment with the possibility of extension to two years depending upon funding and performance.
