As a top 10 Modern UK University for bioscience, our School of Applied Sciences offers our students an experience beyond the classroom. Based in the heart of Scotland's historic and culturally rich capital city, we encourage student development through personalised learning and our strong links within industry.

At the School of Applied Sciences putting theory into practice is our guiding ethos, using science to help you make a difference. Our GBP 60 Million, purpose-built science and health campus in Sighthill houses a full range of cutting-edge facilities where staff, students and researchers tackle global and local issues affecting health, society and the environment.

Our current research examines microbiological interactions with a variety of hosts (humans, animals and plants) and with the wider environment. Our outputs have important applications in the control of human and animal disease, food production and microbial remediation of contaminated environments.  We have a strong reputation for applied education and research within life sciences, this is something that we are keen to develop and expand upon over the coming years.

The role

Teaching focus in the areas of microbial biotechnology, particularly aspects of bioprocess technology, fermentation design and development, and cell technology.  Experience of quality management processes and regulatory frameworks would be an advantage.
