The Department of Film and Television seeks to appoint a Senior Teaching Associate at 0.8 FTE for a one year fixed term contract, commencing on 1 September 2019. The post represents an exciting opportunity for an outstanding early-career scholar with experience and expertise teaching both film studies and film practice. The appointee will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, particularly on units which involve creative practice in documentary and fiction forms. Specialist knowledge in the areas of national cinema and/or contemporary Hollywood is particularly welcome. For this role, expertise and experience delivering lectures and/or seminar-based units, teaching or supervising filmmaking practice, and marking assignments is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the wider activities of the department, including dissertation supervision and pastoral support for MA and UG students.

Film and Television is a growing department, located in a custom-built premises housing a 200-seat cinema, a 39-seat screening room, dual-projection lecture room, seminar rooms, two production studios, animation suites, edit suites and sound rooms. Staff in the Department have expertise in an array of genres, regions, periods and modes, including television drama, animated film, comedy and the Western, and in a range of approaches including documentary filmmaking, fiction filmmaking, film editing, cinematography, audience studies, archival research, close reading, and the archaeology of screen media.
