College of Science Technical - JBL Schools

Location: Lincoln
Salary: From £18,000 per annum
This post is fixed term for 1 year and full time at 37 hours per week.
Closing Date: Sunday 16 June 2019
Interview Date: Thursday 04 July 2019

The Schools of Life Sciences, Chemistry and Pharmacy have enjoyed recent substantial investment, resulting in the opening of the Joseph Bank Laboratories and Minster House which house new research and training facilities for the Schools, in addition to extensively enhanced teaching laboratories in the purpose built Janet Lane-Claypon Building.

This role is a fixed term 12-month position, designed to provide a recent Lincoln graduate with relevant experience and skills in the area of animal science. We are seeking individuals who are dynamic and adaptable with a 'can do' approach and an enthusiasm for success, working flexibly across areas as appropriate. Where applicable, training in specific techniques and processes will form part of your personal development plan.

The role will require significant interaction with staff, graduates, and students and on occasion members of the public. You will be required to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the business, including some weekends and public holidays. It is expected that you will work across all school buildings as required.

As an applicant for this post, you will:

  • be a recent University of Lincoln graduate
  • have experience of working with animals
  • have an enthusiastic and flexible approach to work
  • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent Lincoln graduate with relevant experience and skills. In addition to the departmental role, you will also join the University's intern development programme, ‘The Lincoln Award (Graduate Interns)’. This is an integrated six month programme and will include a range of workshops and group organisational project. The aim of the programme is to help you build up your key transferable skills as well as developing you both personally and professionally. The programme enables you to build a personal portfolio, allowing you to reflect on your learning and development throughout your employment with us.

It is expected that the successful candidate will fully engage in the development programme as part of this graduate intern role.

Please note you do not need to have completed the Lincoln Award at undergraduate level to apply for this position. The appointment is offered on a fixed term basis with a planned end date of one year from start date, and is fixed term due to the post being a one year internship.

If you would like to know more about this opportunity, please contact Dr. Ciara Casey, Technical Manager at ccasey@lincoln.ac.uk.

This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Tier 2.
