MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST, Division of Comparative Medicine (DCM), to join the animal resource program. DCM provides veterinary and clinical care for all animals used in biomedical research at MIT and conducts NIH-funded research. Will provide key support for the operation of the DCM diagnostic lab, with an emphasis on microbiology. Responsibilities will include supporting the lab manager in all aspects of the lab’s operation; supporting the division’s diagnostic and research functions by performing a wide range of laboratory procedures in microbiology, hematology, serum chemistry, parasitology, molecular biology, urinalysis, and serology on a variety of animal specimens; training and guiding students and postdocs in projects, laboratory procedures, and use of equipment within the Diagnostic Laboratory; providing introduction to Diagnostic Laboratory protocols and procedures for all summer veterinary fellows and new postdocs; modifying SOPs for laboratory operations; and performing other duties as necessary.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field; strong microbiology skills; interpersonal skills; flexibility; willingness to learn new techniques; ability to work with minimal supervision; and oral and written English proficiency. ASCP certification and/or veterinary diagnostic experience would be a plus. Two years of laboratory experience is preferred.
