Company

With more than 10,000 students and 1,000 staff, the University of Gloucestershire has played a vibrant part in its community for over 150 years.

The University was granted university status in 2001, and predecessor colleges have been delivering quality education in Gloucestershire since 1834. Alumni include Turner Prize nominee Cornelia Parker and Winter Olympic Gold Medallist Lizzy Yarnold.

The University of Gloucestershire's roots lie in teacher training, and it continues to lead in its field today, with Ofsted inspectors judging our Primary and Secondary teacher education programmes as “Outstanding” in 2015.
We are one of top 10 UK modern universities for good honours degrees (Complete University Guide 2016), and 94% of our graduates are in employment of further study within six months (DLHE 2013/14).

The Guardian University Guide 2016 ranks courses including Religion, Philosophy and Ethics as well as Photography in their top ten, and we rank among the top 20 universities in the UK for media and film.

And since the scheme was introduced in 2000, 16 academics have been designated National Teaching Fellows by the Higher Education Academy, placing it as one of the top in the country.

Cheltenham is home to two campuses, the Park and Francis Close Hall, with Oxstalls just minutes from the heart of Gloucester.
Expansion of our Oxstalls campus will feature a new business school, community sports facilities and student accommodation and bring at least 2,000 more students to Gloucester. In Cheltenham, our new £37m Pittville student village will provide accommodation for nearly 800 students when it opens in 2017.
