Bristol Veterinary School is seeking to recruit a dynamic and outstanding research-active academic staff member in the area of Clinical Research.

The appointed individual will have the drive, vision, and respect within the clinical and research community to lead on building the clinical research infrastructure of the school, supporting the delivery of clinical research outputs across species and disciplines alongside continuing their own programme of world leading research. Such an individual will measure success by their ability to inspire and facilitate the School’s clinical staff to deliver scientifically robust research with clinical impact.

The strategic focus will include the development of: (a) Clinical Research themes and their alignment with School, Faculty and University; (b) Connections to other research groups and staff in the School and Faculty; (c) Infrastructure supporting the development of clinical trials and cohort studies, in particular controlled clinical trials and cohort studies.

The successful applicant will support clinical staff in both Langford Vets and Bristol Veterinary School. The applicant will work closely with researchers in both Bristol Veterinary School and the Faculty of Health Sciences as well as benefiting from the numerous opportunities to develop interdisciplinary collaborations across the wider University and beyond. As a part of these infrastructure building initiatives, the applicant would be expected to coordinate and develop support and training needs for clinical researchers. The successful applicant will have a strong track record of clinical research to inform their programme of research and infrastructure. They will also have a track record of success in obtaining clinical research grant funding.

Research informed teaching is at the heart of the culture of the School, and the successful applicant will use their passion for research to engage and enthuse our students. The post will involve didactic and practical teaching for undergraduate veterinary and veterinary nursing students, and taught Masters students (~Residents).

The post is based at Bristol Veterinary School on the University of Bristol’s Langford campus, within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
