Lecturer in Information Systems – Permanent

Our School of Computing is home to 70 academics, 1400 students and holds professional accreditation from the British Computer Society with some of the most impressive computing lab facilities in the UK. 

The role
As a Lecturer in information systems governance, regulation & compliance and project management you will support the expansion of our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching portfolio, to meet increasing demand for graduate skills and applied research in these areas. 
You will contribute in developing our undergraduate and postgraduate Business Information Technology programmes, Graduate Apprenticeship programme in IT Management for Business and our Transnational and Corporate programmes. In addition, you will be responsible for teaching and developing modules in subject areas including information security and project management. Travel is essential for this role around the UK and abroad. 

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate enthusiasm for working with industry in applied research and in the development of teaching to enhance employability of our graduates. You will have the opportunity to expand your industry connections through our existing networks and by visiting students on one-year industry placements and on our employer-based Graduate Apprentice programme. 

A developing track record in research publications, income generation and research grants is essential. You will contribute to research in the Centre for Social Informatics and engage in interdisciplinary research with colleagues in other research groups in the School and externally. 

As a lecturer, you will work within a vibrant research and teaching group, where you will initially have 30% of your time dedicated to building research. There is support for travel to conferences, purchasing equipment and developing your network. We offer a range of development including our Research and Innovation Office who support grant funding applications. Lastly, you will be mentored by a Professor and we aim to have you quickly join a PhD student supervisory team.

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline.  
  • Evidence of a professional academic and research profile 
  • Continuous personal professional/academic development
  • High quality teaching/learning and research programmes in Information Systems
  • Evidence of research led teaching 
  • A willingness to deliver teaching internationally, nationally (UK) and online
