The University of Leicester is one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities, committed to excellence, world-changing research and high quality, inspirational teaching. Founded in 1921 as a memorial to the Great War, we have a proud history of ambitious projects that lead to amazing discoveries. This is where genetic fingerprinting was invented in 1984 and home of the team who found King Richard III. With a turnover of £330 million, 4,000 staff and over 20,000 students from 115 nationalities, we celebrate our diversity and inclusivity and engage our local, national and international communities. We are currently embarking on a significant programme of investment to modernise our campus and infrastructure, transforming the learning and living environment for all.

We are now seeking our next Vice-Chancellor. This is a time of immense opportunity and potential for our University whilst operating within the context of intense competition and a challenging and uncertain external environment. Candidates will bring strategic vision and flair, together with pragmatic, focused and decisive leadership.  Aligned to the core mission and ethos of the University, candidates will be committed and visible leaders, with a relational and values-based approach, engaging with our University community, wider region and beyond.

We require an individual with an exceptional understanding of sector-wide challenges and opportunities and creative, modern, solutions-based leadership skills, galvanising and inspiring colleagues to harness the extraordinary talents of all our staff and students, enabling us to realise our potential.
