This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS), School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition which is currently highly rated in all national league tables.
We are looking for a high quality individual who wants a career in Global Health and who brings expertise in teaching and research in Global Health.
They should be enthusiastic and have innovative ideas on how we might position Aberdeen as an International Centre of Excellence in Global Health.
You will lead and innovate new teaching developments in the area of Global Health and participate across a range of teaching activities, including BSc and MSc programmes, as well as supervise postgraduate and undergraduate research students. Experience in online development and delivery would be advantageous or a disposition to learn and exploit the opportunities of this mode of learning.
You would be expected to develop your portfolio of research within Global Health and to lead on applications for research-funding e.g. new Global Challenges Research Fund grant applications.
You will be responsible for strengthening and securing sustainable research and teaching partnerships with key strategic national and international Institutions e.g. NHS Grampian through the development of global health linkages with NHS colleagues and clinical academic partnerships within IAHS. These would be in the area of Global Health and international public health.
You will have a PhD in an appropriate health services research discipline.
You will be committed to an academic career, focussed on global health. You will have experience of teaching at UG and PG levels and will have supervised PhD students and research assistants/fellows.
You should have extensive research experience and be developing an independent research portfolio. A strong publication record and track record as a co-investigator on external grants is essential.
You will have your own area of methodological research and will have grants and publications in this field.
You will have excellent communication skills, good team-working, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 for Lecturer, or the grade 8 salary scale for Senior Lecturers, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 3 year probation period.
