School of Communication

The School of Communication of Hong Kong Baptist University is a leading school of communication, journalism, and film studies in the Asia-Pacific region. It comprises the Academy of Film, Department of Communication Studies and Department of Journalism, offering 20 programmes at the sub-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate levels to circa 2,000 students. Faculty members work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary academic environment that entails collaboration across multiple fields of study. The School now invites applicants to fill the following positions:

Professor of Practice / Associate Professor of Practice (in Public Relations and Advertising) (PR0338/18-19)

Professor of Practice / Associate Professor of Practice (in Film, Media Arts & Animation) (PR0339/18-19)

Professor of Practice / Associate Professor of Practice (in Journalism) (PR0340/18-19)

Professor of Practice / Associate Professor of Practice (in New Media) (PR0341/18-19)

The ideal candidates are expected to:

(a) be distinguished practitioners with a track record of exemplary professional practice and leadership in their fields;

(b)  i)  have at least ten years of relevant work experience for the post of Professor of Practice;

      ii)  have at least seven years of relevant work experience for the post of Associate Professor of Practice;

(c) possess strong professional portfolio and expertise acquired through industry practice; and

(d) be able to serve as liaison between industry and the University.

Successful candidates are expected to engage principally in teaching. They are expected to play an active role in guiding and inspiring students in experiential learning, applying their professional experience to the design of curriculum and ensuring the University’s course offerings are kept abreast of industry developments.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. 

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience and professional standing.
