The Institute for Communication Systems (ICS) is looking to strengthen its current activities in Satellite Communications and is seeking an individual with a strong international reputation in wireless communications and/or satellite communications to lead research and education within these areas.

The candidate should have wide knowledge of the satellite communications business as well as wireless technology and ideally with experience in working with industry. The candidate must have excellent research expertise and a strong publications portfolio in the area. Current research in ICS covers networks and architectures, physical air interfaces, channel characterisation and integrated 5G and satellite networks.

Satellite communications features in our MSc courses as well as very successful one-week courses to industry. The candidate would be expected to contribute to these as well as undertake other teaching duties in undergraduate and postgraduate schemes.

We are looking for a person with an extensive research track record and proven technical management capability and the post-holder is expected to manage close collaboration between the ICS and Surrey Satellite Technology LTD (SSTL). The typical research areas are listed below:

The candidate will already be recognised as an international leader in their research area and will have the capability and drive to grow the activity taking full advantage of the infrastructure at the University of Surrey and SSTL.
