The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bristol has an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching. The Department currently has a vacancy for a Lectureship in Radio Communication Systems to complement the wireless communications and network activities of the Communication Systems and Networks Group. The post will support the teaching of our degree courses in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Applicants will have expertise in the theoretical and practical aspects of wireless communications and networks. Experience in the areas of wireless transmission and waveforms, 5G systems and Networks, Massive MIMO, Intelligent Transport Systems, millimetre wave networks, Management and Control of Future Networks, Radio Frequency transmitters and receivers, IoT, and wireless channels is highly desirable. Many of these subjects are critical in the development of efficient and cost-effective 5G and beyond networks. The CSN group has a number of upcoming research projects where the research remit of this academic post are well aligned, so the successful applicant will be joining a vibrant and active research environment. Successful applicants will have a proven track record in high quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Bristol is consistently ranked as one of the top places in the UK for Teaching and Research in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The Department is an active and successful centre of excellence in teaching and research, with in-depth specialisation in advanced communications technologies (power and spectrum efficient wireless access, image & video signal processing, photonics and quantum information) and electrical energy management. Much of the Department's research is interdisciplinary, working with colleagues in the Engineering Faculty and in Applied Sciences. The Department runs undergraduate programmes in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Electronics and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering with a high-quality student intake (entry grades are AAA at UK A-level), as well as several advanced MSc programmes. Our focus is on providing a high quality and innovative learning environment.

Please include with your CV and covering letter with a statement on the contributions that you can make to teaching in the Department, especially in respect of innovation in delivery and content. We would like to encourage applications from groups under-represented in electronic engineering.

For informal discussion about the post, you are welcome to contact:
Professor Angela Doufexi (mvse-eee@bristol.ac.uk), (Head of Department) or Professor Ian Nabney (sceem-hos@bristol.ac.uk), (Head School of Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Engineering Maths) or Professor Kevin Morris (kevin.morris@bristol.ac.uk) (Head of CSN)

The selection process, including interviews is expected to take place May 2019 and the start date is expected to be 1st August 2019.
