Job Details

This is a very exciting time to join Western Sydney University (WSU), a forward-thinking, student-focused and research-led university, located at the heart of Australia’s fastest growing region, Western Sydney. The University is ranked in the top two per cent of universities worldwide and, as a research leader, 80 per cent of the University’s assessed research is rated at ‘World Standard’ or above. We are seeking to recruit new talent to join our dynamic team to champion our core strategic goal of being a distinctively student-centred university, to contribute towards our fresh new approach and help position WSU as a world-class tertiary education provider.

WSU’s School of Science and Health provides an educational environment that is contemporary, challenging, and adaptive to a rapidly evolving world. Our teaching programs are intrinsically interdisciplinary, and cover a broad range of professional and other disciplines in the health science, biomedical science, and other science areas. These areas are underpinned by a strong focus on research and research-led teaching, which often involves partnerships with a range of external organisations and a focus on strong interprofessional health competencies.

The School of Science and Health is now developing a new Speech Pathology program (including an embedded Honours program) that will have its first intake of students in 2020, and which will sit within our comprehensive suite of allied health and other health science programs. The program will build on WSU’s strong research capability in the areas of speech and language development, including work conducted in the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development.

The launch of the Speech Pathology program provides a unique opportunity for a dynamic academic leader, who will head the program’s development and implementation. The Professor/Associate Professor, Speech Pathology will combine a significant academic record of research in speech pathology with an innovative approach to curriculum development and an appreciation of the requirements for accreditation. Tasked with leading a greenfield initiative, they will display the determination and commitment required to ensure the success of the new program in Speech Pathology and foster ever deeper connections with clinical partners in the allied health space.
