The University of the West of Scotland is an ambitious, growing university at an exciting phase of development.  Civil Engineering is currently ranked 5th in the UK by the Guardian. We are looking to recruit engaged and talented individuals to make a real impact on the work of the School.

The School is looking to appoint an experienced lecturer to support our teaching activities in structural engineering who can demonstrate a commitment to high quality, and innovative teaching and learning. The Civil Engineering discipline currently has 100% student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS). You will also be expected to make a contribution to building the research profile in Structural Engineering particularly through applied research and enterprise activity.

You should hold a first degree in a civil engineering related area and normally possess a Doctoral level qualification. You will be a Charted Engineer and hold membership of a related professional body. Teaching experience in structural analysis and design of typical civil engineering structures is an essential requirement for the post.

Experience in computer aided engineering, surveying, sustainable construction and health & safety and finite element analysis (or other computational methods) would be advantageous.  Research experience in the use of innovative structural engineering practice is desirable.

The successful candidate will be based at our Paisley Campus with some scheduled activities at our other campus locations and at our partner institutions abroad. Scotland boasts some of the most stunning countryside and coastline for outdoor and family life. We are close to Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, with its rich heritage and vibrant cultural life, and just minutes from the International airport.
