The University invites applications for the above post which is available from 1 March 2019.

The post is to advise the Head of School on safety matters, disseminate information to School staff, advise on procedures to ensure the safety of operations within the School and to liaise between the School and Faculty/University Safety Co-ordinators. The role will encompass the full range of School activities across all locations from which it operates including the safe location of staff to Royce and the Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD).

You will be line managed by the Head of School Administration and accountable to the Head of School who has ultimate responsibility for Health and Safety in the School, and the School Management Committee, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and advising staff and students on health and safety issues.

You will possess at least the NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent), and be preferably educated to at least first degree level in a science/engineering (or related subject) or hold extensive experience demonstrating relevant engineering, technical, management and leadership skills. You will be able to demonstrate considerable experience in, and understanding of, the operation of engineering teaching and research. You will possess excellent managerial/organisational and problem-solving skills, and be highly motivated and pro-active.
