Research Assistant Position in the LSI Core Flow Cytometry Lab

The Life Sciences Institute Flow Cytometry Core Lab provides flow cytometry services for researchers in the Immunology Programme, other groups within the Life Science Institute, and the wider NUS research community. The lab currently has 3 cell sorters and 4 analysers, with a new high end analyser to be installed later this year.  

The job scope includes:

  1. Regular calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the flow cytometers, and data management
  2. Training users in basic flow cytometry
  3. Troubleshooting problems that users encounter while using the flow cytometers
  4. Purchases, renewal of service contracts, collating flow cytometer usage time for billing
  5. Updating the user database, keeping track of laser licence expiry dates, coordinating the booking of flow cytometers, and helping with other regulatory requirements
  6. Operate the cell sorters during sessions when staff assistance is required
  7. Assistance with the ongoing research projects of the Flow Cytometry Lab

Requirements:

  1. A degree in Biological, Biomedical, or Life Sciences from a recognised university.
  2. Good planning and organisational skills.
  3. Meticulous and diligent.
  4. Independent, resourceful and able to work in a team.
  5. Knowledge on safety aspects of laboratories.
  6. Previous experience working in a biological lab would be useful.
  7. Competent knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.
  8. Experience in flow cytometry, particularly cell sorting, is advantageous.
  9. Singaporeans and PRs preferred
