Tutor (holding the title of Project Development Officer) in the Centre for Information Technology in Education within the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 493919) (to commence on March 1, 2019 on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess (i) a Master’s degree or above in science education, e-Learning, assessment, curriculum studies in education or a related discipline, (ii) a recognized teaching qualification, and (iii) at least 7 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in teaching, supervision, resource management, curriculum design, teacher training and/or supporting schools to enhance science education. Priority would be given to those who have experience in research on teacher learning and/or school development with leadership positions at middle management level or above in schools, a strong record of pedagogical innovation or demonstrated expertise in managing/supporting large-scale school-development projects.

The appointee will work closely with the PI, Co-Is and Project Manager in supporting the leadership and organizational functions of the networks of teachers and schools, and the organization and running of many network activities.  He/She will be expected:

  • to assist the PI, Co-I to plan and organize workshops for teachers and school leaders to understand STEM education and self-directed learning;
  • to coordinate and liaise with different parties of the project on the planning, development and implementation of various project activities;
  • to work collaboratively with participating teachers in designing curriculum using self-directed learning strategies in STEM;
  • to work independently in planning, developing, implementing and monitoring school-based support plan for each participating school;
  • to assist in nurturing both mentor and participating schools for the multi-level leadership capacity development;
  • to conduct training for project staff on their work with schools, including preparing guidelines for supporting teachers’ co-design, lesson observations, and debriefing sessions;
  • to work collaboratively with the Post-doctoral Fellow on research planning, data collection and interpretation of findings.
