The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Philosophy. The post holder will contribute teaching, research, and public-impact in the field of philosophy. We are particularly interested in applicants able to teach across the fields of epistemology, metaphysics and philosophy of mind.

The successful candidate will present an outstanding research profile, in both experience to date and in future potential, in their chosen area of philosophy, relative to career stage. S/he will also bring creative ideas for engaging those outside the University with their research to generate public-impact.

Philosophy at Lincoln is part of the School of History and Heritage, which is based in the College of Arts, located at the University’s main Brayford Pool campus with a view dominated by the magnificent Cathedral. Staff in the School currently work in philosophy, classical studies, American studies, history, conservation, and art history.  Philosophy is in its early stages at Lincoln. We currently have undergraduate students in the first and second years of study on our BA degree and have plans to introduce a taught MA programme in the near future. The successful applicant will be able to make a significant contribution to the growth and development of Philosophy at Lincoln, both in terms of curriculum development and enhancing our existing research profile.

The School offers a friendly and welcoming working environment. There is a strong collaborative research culture with regular seminars, a lively philosophy visiting speaker programme, and ongoing support for research activity, including funding for conference activities.

Based in the beautiful and historic medieval city of Lincoln, the University of Lincoln is ranked 22nd in the Guardian University Guide 2019 and 7th in the UK for overall student satisfaction in the latest National Student Survey. The University was awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
