This is a key role in providing high quality services to students. You will play a vital role in the provision of the Open University’s (OU) supported open learning model of education; contribute to the presentation of modules and qualifications and engage in research/scholarship congruent with school and faculty strategic priorities. Staff Tutors represent the Open University on national and local strategic groups, provide academic leadership and line manage Associate Lecturers and Practice Tutors who provide support to OU students.

You will need a good first degree (upper second or higher) or a Post-Graduate qualification in a subject area of relevance to nursing, health and/or social care. You must have a professional qualification in Nursing, current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and experience in supporting practice learning. You should also have a Nursing and Midwifery Council recordable teaching qualification (AC3) or capacity to achieve this within two years (AC2).   You will have a sound understanding of the needs of adult learners; the ability to promote the Faculty's modules, programmes and awards to individuals and corporate customers; the skills required to develop and maintain local partnerships; good interpersonal, communication, team working and organisational skills and an understanding of current issues in nursing / nursing education.

This is a Homeworking contract, to be based in the Hampshire/Dorset area of the South West locality (Cornwall, Dorset, Devon, Hampshire, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Isle of Wight, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire).  Attendance at meetings in Milton Keynes and wider travel across the whole of the South West locality is an essential part of the role.
