Welcome message

Greetings

As the vice-chancellors of two young universities at the forefront of knowledge and innovation, we are privileged to jointly host the 2019 Times Higher Education  Young Universities Summit in Surrey, United Kingdom.

This summit will explore the themes and debate the benefits of embracing risk and creating opportunities. We have invited the brightest minds in higher education, industry, government and our communities to discuss how we can help to shape the best possible future for our students and global society.

As young universities, we are uniquely placed to not only understand and respond to change, but to drive it. We can harness the diverse expertise of our world-class researchers and actively cultivate new talent who are not afraid to take risks in addressing complex global issues.

Together with the University of São Paulo and North Carolina State University, we are members of the University Global Partnership Network – an interdisciplinary alliance committed to pursuing outcomes with real-world impact. Our work with UGPN is creating significant opportunities to lead positive change; we look forward to sharing our experiences on successful collaboration and partnerships.

The summit will also provide an opportunity to celebrate our collective success as we announce the results of the THE Young University Rankings as well as the Golden Age Rankings.

We look forward to welcoming you to Surrey in 2019 for the Young Universities Summit.
