Nurturing global talent and research excellence

With novel coronavirus (Covid-19) now present in a number of countries in the Middle East and North Africa we have taken the decision to postpone the THE  MENA Universities Summit 2020 until autumn. Our primary concern remains the wellbeing of our staff, delegates and partners and we believe this to be the most appropriate precautionary course of action. We are working on confirming alternative dates with New York University as a matter of urgency. Updated information will be published on this page as soon as it is available. If you have any questions, or are an existing delegate who hasn’t heard from us, please contact summits@timeshighereducation.com.

Together, leaders of higher education, government and industry from the MENA region and international authoritative speakers will debate the role and value of a global liberal education in developing talented individuals who are prepared to meet the demands of a global workforce with cultural sensitivity and ethical integrity.

The summit will also address the importance of broad, interdisciplinary instruction – the cornerstone of a liberal education – and the challenges and opportunities of developing a research culture in the MENA region, as well as how universities can ensure societal impact.

Knowledge diplomacy and how research projects that bridge political boundaries can promote the transfer both of deep knowledge and cultural and political understanding will also be a focus.

Additionally, an exclusive THE  rankings masterclass will explore the methodology behind the World University Rankings, giving an analysis of the MENA region’s successes and future opportunities.
