Towards a cleaner carbon fibre future

Carbon fibre is a key material in a range of industries from automotive to wind energy. A UL research team are focused on next generation biomaterials to create cleaner carbon fibre solutoins. Prof Maurice Collins, Bernal Institute is leading a research team who have produced carbon fibre from sustainable bio-resources. The team have converted organic waste from forestry into carbon fibres which have already shown enormous potential in terms of performance in automotive, aerospace and wind-turbine demonstrator tests.
