Education Studies with Spanish

There is recognition that education is not confined to schools, and that it has become global. Learning is to be found in a wide range of settings and institutions, such as the family, communities and the workplace, and through the languages we use to convey thought. This idea will permeate your studies. Central to this programme is the examination of the idea that learning can take place in many different locations and many of these will be examined and evaluated. Through the study of education, in its many guises, we will ask questions and seek answers. Our first question might be ‘What is education?’ Think for a second about this. What comes into your head? What does it mean to be educated? What would an educated person look like? Or act like? What does it mean when we say that we have had a good education? The Education Studies programme will help you to discover the answers to these and other questions. Alongside, we are keen to encourage you to think about taking Languages as part of your degree, as we know that graduates who can communicate in other languages besides English generally command excellent job prospects. We also believe that spending a period of time abroad as part of your degree will be one of the best things you can do at University. You will become more self-confident and independent, able to work as part of a team, and aware of a wider world, where you can operate in another culture and through another language. The acquisition of language skills will enhance all areas of your degree study.
