British Sign Language and Educational Linguistics - York St John University

In this programme you will learn to communicate in British Sign Language to an advanced level, and how to apply the study of language structure and use to educational contexts. You’ll consider the multilingual classroom, first and second language acquisition, language impairments, and the acquisition of written language. You’ll also study historical contexts of deaf people and socio-cultural aspects of British Sign Language use. This programme is ideal if you are considering a career working with Deaf children as a teacher, SEN specialist or Speech and Language Therapist.
