Applied Drama - University of Wales Trinity Saint David

Our innovative BA (Hons) Applied Drama is an exciting opportunity to combine theatre, drama and performing arts skills with an interest in people and communities. Our degree programme will enable you to develop key performance and facilitation skills whilst giving you the chance to work within a range of settings and sectors. We focus on: • Creating work outside of traditional theatre spaces • Community and social engagement • Theatre for change • Creative approaches to education We have strong partnerships with theatre companies, community arts organisations, schools and charities in Wales and across the UK. The course is exciting, practical and supported by lots of opportunities to explore what applied drama can be, engaging with visiting professional practitioners and partaking in practical projects in the community. Each year strengthens your theoretical knowledge and gives you a chance to try different approaches in a range of professional settings and to specialise in the areas that interest you. YEAR 1: Learn and develop contemporary performance and applied drama skills through exploration, play and devising. YEAR 2: Build strong facilitation skills to apply in a variety of contexts. You will have a chance to work as a company to create your own participatory performance project. YEAR 3: This is your time to move towards being an independent practitioner. Run your own workshops and develop creative projects out in the community. You will be supported by a range of artist practitioners, create your own research and practical projects based on your specialist interests in education, health and wellbeing and community arts. There are also opportunities to study abroad in your third year, and UWTSD offers exciting opportunities to work with global communities.
