Childhood and Youth - University of Northampton

Our Childhood and Youth course is ideal if you’re interested in working with children and young people aged eight to 25 years. This course is designed to support your professional development, empowering you to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people. You’ll be able to explore a diverse range of professional roles alongside your academic study through work placements. You will spend 120 hours each year working with children, young people and families. This hands-on experience will not only give you a chance to try out different areas of work but, it will also put into practice everything that you learn on the course as well as enhancing your employment options when you graduate. You will have the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications to help enhance your CV. For example, you could gain further skills and certification in mental health awareness, mentoring, supporting transitions, facilitating group work, enhancing digital literacy and first aid. This course can lead on to a wide choice of career paths including social care, children’s homes, sports development, youth theatres, mental health services, youth offending and many more.
