**Course overview**: This course includes an integrated foundation year, ideal if you don’t have the appropriate subjects and/or grades to go straight into year one. It also includes a placement year. It is one of the UK’s most recognised courses within the field and it is well respected by the industry. The breadth of subjects covered means that the course is relevant to a range of computing careers - from programming, mobile development and network management to systems security and artificial intelligence systems. This course gives you the chance to be taught by experienced developers and internationally recognised researchers. This course prepares you for a wide range of careers in varied industries including software development, financial services, management and games companies. You will spend one year learning and developing your skills through work experience. You will have a dedicated work placement officer and the University's award-winning careers service to assist you with applying for a placement. Advice is also available on job hunting and networking. Employers are often invited to the University to meet you and present you with opportunities for work placements. By taking a work placement year you gain experience favoured by graduate recruiters and develop your technical skillset. However, in addition to these digital industries your skills and knowledge will also be relevant to the automobile, manufacturing, health and charitable industries, to name just a few.
