Events Management (Foundation) - Manchester Metropolitan University

**Overview** Manchester is home to major venues and is an ideal base to begin your career in events. Every year, the city hosts internationally renowned music, sports, cultural and food and drink events. This course specifically prepares you for studying our BA (Hons) Events Management degree. It will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to study for an honours degree, even if you don’t currently meet the academic requirements. Once you’ve passed, you’ll be ready to start your degree course. That means your degree will take four years, or five years if it includes a work placement or year studying abroad. From law for event professionals to creative event design, on our full degree we give you the knowledge you need to succeed in all parts of the events industry. But you’ll also have the chance to specialise in specific events by choosing subjects that interest you. Outside the lecture theatre, we offer plenty of opportunities to help you gain hands-on experience. You could complete an industry short course, volunteer at events, or work on live projects with our industry partners. There’s also an opportunity to spend a year on placement to put your skills into action. By the time you graduate from the BA (Hons) course, you’ll be more than equipped to organise a wide variety of events, bringing a creative and strategic mind-set to each and every challenge. **Features and Benefits** - **Adapt to university life** – develop your study skills, prepare for a full degree course and familiarise yourself with our Manchester campus. - **Funding support** – you can apply for student finance (e.g. tuition fee loan, student loan and student maintenance grant) in the same way as other students. - **Top ranking** – we’re listed in the top 10 in the UK for Event Management degrees by the Guardian University League Tables 2018. - **Live in a city with a jam-packed calendar** – Manchester regularly hosts major music, sports, cultural, and food and drink events. - **Regular industry events** – Get insights from and network with inspirational guest speakers like Gareth Cooper, Founder of Broadwick Live, and Shona McCarthy, Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. - **Placements** – immerse yourself in the industry. Previous students on the full degree have secured roles at LateRooms.com, Greenwich Country Club in Connecticut, USA and Thomas Cook in Mexico. - **Live projects** – if you progress to the full degree, in Year 1 you’ll benefit from hands-on experience by working on projects with real businesses.
