Sociology - Leeds Trinity University

Are you interested in how our lives are shaped by relationships with other people and institutions? Do you want to unpick the ways of thinking that construct and influence our societies? Sociology examines societies, social issues and problems, looking at how they impact upon the lives of individuals. You'll develop a wide range of knowledge in contemporary sociological theory and practice, exploring topics from urban sociology and gender and society, to criminality and globalisation. Professional experience is crucial, so you'll complete two professional work placements as part of your degree. We'll work with you to match you with one of our employer partners, or we'll support you in finding your own placement. Employers frequently praise the eye for detail and critical thinking skills of our Sociology graduates, as well as the transferable skills that they develop. By the time you graduate, we aim to have helped you to become a confident, articulate, knowledgeable and critical graduate ready for a wide range of graduate roles. **Placement opportunities** We are one of only a few UK universities to build professional work placements into every degree. You'll complete two professional work placements, which will give you the chance to graduate with up to three months' professional work experience without having to take a sandwich year out. You'll complete two professional work placements as part of your degree. Thanks to the versatility of a Sociology degree, you can choose to complete a placement based on your specific interests.
