The Social Science Foundation Year is a well established course, providing the ideal preparation to study for a degree across a wide range of disciplines including law, politics, sociology, criminology, international relations and many more. The social sciences seek to address difficult questions and offer answers that might point the way to a more just and sustainable future for humanity. After you have completed your Social Science Foundation Year, you could progress on to the Law with Business programme. The interdisciplinary law degree will equip you with commercial acumen that will enable you to understand legal requirements and implications that businesses of a variety of sizes and sectors might face. This innovative pathway enables students to study all the law modules needed for an LLB alongside a bespoke route in business which will provide a secure grounding in the intellectual traditions and perspectives that underpin business as a distinctive discipline. You will learn the key principles and doctrines underlying English, European and International law and develop an understanding of its social, political, historical and comparative contexts. You will have the opportunity to develop your practical experience by participating in mooting (practising oral arguments), client interviewing, and volunteering as a Community Legal Companion as part of our innovative CLOCK programme. You will develop a well-informed approach to problem solving which will be invaluable to a career in law or business.
