UK Presidency event: 'Science Meets Policy'

十月 10, 2005

Brussels, 07 Oct 2005

A conference entitled 'Science Meets Policy' will take place in London, UK, from 23 to 25 November.

Organised by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), under the auspices of the UK Presidency of the European Union, the purpose of this event is to explore the challenges and opportunities for making better use of science in environmental policy-making through a series of keynote speeches, presentations of case studies, focus groups and discussions. The focus will be on answering two key questions:
- How to improve linkages between policy needs and research programmes?
- How to improve access to knowledge?

Drawing on the outcomes from earlier workshops and studies on this theme, the focus will be on developing concrete recommendations and outcomes that will help to secure a more sound evidence base on which to develop EU and national policies.
