Kingston University - Mumps scare prompts vaccination

Kingston University is facing an outbreak of mumps, with 20 suspected cases reported in the past month and five students diagnosed with the highly contagious virus. More cases at the university are suspected, leading to fears of a repeat of the Kingston outbreak of 2005, when 548 vulnerable staff and students had emergency vaccinations. Gill Deane, head of the university's health and counselling service, said: "About 140 vaccinations have now been given."
