The Presidency submits annexed a revised version of the Energy contribution to the Spring European Council, to be examined at the Energy Group of 15 February.
Based on the comments of a number of delegations, the Presidency has considered it appropriate to amend the text in a way that makes it much more concise and readable, highlighting the key issues without going too much into specific details, and situating it clearly as relevant for the review of the Lisbon Strategy and at the same time for addressing the post Kyoto Climate Change Strategy and the revision of the Sustainable Development Strategy. The Presidency is of the view that this is the only possibility of achieving a contribution which can be usefully transmitted to a higher level. The text should be agreed at Working Group level, to be then passed on as an I Item to Coreper so that there will be no discussion at Coreper.
If delegations wish to make more detailed comments, these can be made as individual contributions through the appropriate channels.
